The Vocational Promotion and Guidance Branch, operating under the Western Thrace
Minority University Graduates Association (WTMUGA), organized an event for students on
Friday, November 7th, titled “Importance of Oral and Dental Health and Preventive
Medicine.”
Dentist Mr. Mustafa Molla İbrahimoglu, a speaker at the event, delivered an informative
presentation on the scope of dentistry, its aesthetic aspects, and, in particular, the vital
importance of preventive medicine. In his speech, Molla İbrahimoglu stated, “Dentistry is a
profession with a wide range of applications, but the main theme is aesthetics,” and provided
information on branches such as orthodontics, periodontics, surgery, and implants. One of the
main focuses of the presentation was the critical role of preventive medicine in preventing
tooth loss and advanced treatments. Molla İbrahimoglu emphasized that identifying potential
problems at an early stage, through regular dental checkups, both reduces treatment costs and
increases treatment success. He also touched on recent developments in dentistry and modern
treatment approaches, such as PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) treatment. He also discussed the
impact of genetics on dental health, saying, “Tooth strength varies from person to person, and
this is related to genetic factors.” The presentation also emphasized the importance of patient-
doctor communication, as well as the processes of diagnosis, treatment, and consultation in
dentistry. Students learned about tooth structure, root treatments, and types of anesthesia
through a demonstration using models. The event concluded with students asking questions
about dental health.
