The Vocational Promotion and Guidance branch, operating within the Western Thrace Minority University Graduates Association, held two sessions titled “How I’m Developing: Freud and Erickson” and “I’m Discovering Myself” for high school students on Friday, March 10, 2023, within the framework of Personal Development Workshops. In the first session, high school senior Enes made a presentation on the life and theories of Freud and Erickson, who are important names in the history of psychology. Our student, who first introduced Freud’s theory of biological origin, then transferred Erickson’s theory of psychosocial development to the participants. He also explained the developmental stages of both theories in detail and talked about the consequences that may arise if these stages are completed positively or negatively. The second session continued with the presentations of high school second class students Sule and Ceren titled “I’m Discovering Myself”. They touched on the journey of self-discovery, which is another stage that emerges after people have completed their physiological needs. While the inner conflicts continue, they talked about the search for meaning in the journey of life, the awareness of observing, the consciousness of us and the awareness of responsibility in this search. Our speakers convey that as individuals with inner witness, it is an achievement to continue our lives. In the presentation, the importance of developing towards becoming individuals with high self-esteem by adopting the culture of values was emphasized. Our students completed their presentations with an activity about perception differences.
IN THE FIFTH SESSION OF THE PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS, THE TOPICS OF “HOW I DEVELOP: FREUD AND ERİCKSON” and “I DISCOVER MYSELF” SUBJECTS WERECOVERED.
