İsmail Molla Rodoplu, one of the founding members and longest-serving presidents of
the Western Thrace Minority University Graduates Association and a former
independent MP for the province of Rodopi, was commemorated on Tuesday,
September 2nd, at a memorial ceremony held by our association at his grave in the
cemetery of Semetli village, his birthplace, Komotini. At the ceremony, WTMUGA
Board Member Sukriye Mehmet read İsmail Molla Rodoplu’s biography. İsmail
Karagoz, a religious official from the Komotini Mufti’s Office, recited from the Quran
and then offered a prayer. Heads of institutions and organizations, local administrators
and our compatriots attended the commemoration ceremony, where Western Thrace
Minority University Graduates Association Vice President Ali Alioglu and Republic
of Turkey Komotini Vice Consul Adnan Ozturk gave speeches.
