THE PLAY “GULYABANI” (GHOUL) MEETS THEATRE LOVERS AT TRAKYA

The play “GULYABANI,” staged by the Miracle (Mucize) Theatre, which operates under the
umbrella of the Western Thrace Minority University Graduates Association, met with theatre
lovers in Edirne, hosted by Trakya University. On Thursday, April 16th, as part of the
program, the Miracle Theatre team and international students met with the Rector of Trakya
University, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Hatipler. In this meaningful event where cultures met, the
emphasis was on unity, a common language, and a shared cultural geography. On Friday
evening, April 17th, the play “GULYABANI,” adapted from a classic work of Yeşilçam
(Turkish cinema), was staged at the Türkan Sabancı Cultural Center under the direction of
Senemachou Topouz. The performance, coordinated by Sevtap Chint and prepared under the
responsibility of theatre official Sevtzan Chatzi Ali, received high praise from the audience.
The performance was watched by Trakya University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Eylem Bayır,
Rector’s Advisor and Deputy Secretary General Assoc. Dr. Ali Ihsan Meşe, as well as deans,
center and school directors, academics, students, and theater enthusiasts. The play, which was
staged in Edirne for the first time abroad, also received great interest during its tour. On
Saturday, April 18th, as part of a program prepared by the Trakya University Greek Western
Thrace Students Community, which accompanied the team throughout the tour, visits were
made to the Trakya University Natural History Museum, the Lausanne Monument, the
Bayezid Complex, the Selimiye Mosque, and the historical bazaar of Edirne.
